Tomorrowland announces rare live performance from Cameroonian funk and disco legend, Eko Roosevelt

The longstanding artist is also reissuing two classic tracks from 1981, ‘Phone Me Tonight’ and ‘Lobé Mon Ami’, and has shared a new music video

Tomorrowland has announced a rare live performance from Eko Roosevelt at next month’s festival in Belgium.

The Cameroonian funk and disco legend is set to play on Tomorrowland’s Melodia Stage on Friday 24th July as part of Jeroen Delodder’s Disco Zonderdag takeover. The set will mark his first live appearance since 2022's Nyege Nyege Festival in Uganda. He will also become the oldest performer in the festival’s history, according to organisers.

An influential figure in African funk and disco, Roosevelt released nine albums between 1976 and 1981, collaborating with the likes of Manu Dibango, Francis Bebey and a range of global artists, and later becoming director of the National Orchestra of Cameroon. His influence has endured across generations, with Disclosure remixing his track ‘Tondoho Mba’ in 2020 for the deluxe edition of their album, ‘Energy’.

Known for blending synth-heavy funk with Cameroonian soul, Roosevelt’s music draws on traditional African influences while incorporating numerous dancefloor-focused sounds. Now in his late 70s, the artist has held a chieftaincy role in his hometown community in La Lobé, Cameroon since 1998, with his performance at Tomorrowland giving fans a rare chance to catch him live.

The announcement comes alongside the news that two of Roosevelt’s classic tracks, 1981’s ‘Phone Me Tonight’ and ‘Lobé Mon Ami’, will be reissued on 3rd July through new label, Delirious Ears. A new music video for ‘Phone Me Tonight’, shot at the Lobé Waterfalls with his local community, has also been shared. You can watch the video below.

Roosevelt joins a star-studded Tomorrowland 2026 bill, including main stage acts David Guetta , Martin Garrix , Fisher , Miss Monique , Hardwell , Indira Paganotto , Chase & Status , Armin van Buuren , and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike . Calvin Harris is also slated to make his Tomorrowland debut this year. Check out the full line-up here .

In June, it was announced that the Tomorrowland Avicii tribute experience will return this year.

The festival was cleared to return in 2026 following a safety review conducted after last year’s fire destroyed the main stage.
