Audio-Technica announces £9,999 flagship cartridge, the AT-MCD1
It features a lab-grown diamond stylus
Audio-Technica has announced a new high-end flagship cartridge, the AT-MCD1.
The moving coil cartridge is partly formed from the Japanese company's limited-edition 60th anniversary gold cartridge with diamond stylus , in that it also features a unified stylus-cantilever crafted from a lab-grown diamond.
Meanwhile, the body is made from titanium and aluminium with an elastomer undercover that helps to suppress unwanted high-frequency resonances, while hand-crafted ion plating promises a mirror finish and better durability.
The AT-MCD1 is hand-finished in Japan with an individually engraved serial number and packaged in a solid cherry wood case.
The AT-MCD1 will retail for £9,999 / €11,000. Find out more and pick one up from Audio-Technica here .
