Trevor Dietz, Fontaines D.C. manager and influential Dublin nightlife figure, dies aged 47

Trevor Dietz, the manager of Fontaines D.C. and an influential figure in Dublin nightlife, has died aged 47.
The band announced the news on their Instagram yesterday (9th June), writing: “We are utterly heartbroken to let you know that on Sunday June 7th we lost our dear friend and manager Trevor.”
“Trevor was beside us from the beginning of our journey as a band, we have never known Fontaines D.C. without him, the sixth member of the band," the post continued. “He cared passionately for us and for what was fair and right in the wider world. He was fearless in his beliefs. We will miss him always.” A cause of death has not been made public at the time of writing.
The booker, promoter and manager began working with Fontaines D.C. in 2018, two years after their formation, and played a key role in their rise from early indie and student shows at venues such as the British and Irish Modern Music Institute (BIMM), to headlining major festivals including Reading & Leeds.
The band, fronted by Grian Chatten, have since won two BRIT Awards and received nominations for several major honours, including the Mercury Prize and three Grammy Awards.
Before working with Fontaines D.C., Dietz was already a fixture in Dublin’s grassroots music scene. In the early 2000s, he worked as a booker at The Workman's Club, where he programmed live shows and ran club nights that championed emerging talent and became a staple of the city’s nightlife.
