Jared Leto denies sexual misconduct allegations amid new documentary revelations
A new documentary has revived allegations of sexual misconduct and inappropriate behaviour against the actor and musician, intensifying scrutiny on corporate accountability within the entertainment industry.
Actor and musician Jared Leto is facing renewed allegations of sexual misconduct, alongside resurfaced video footage of him making inappropriate comments about teenagers, according to a new documentary. The Oscar winner has categorically denied all claims, stating he has never sexually assaulted anyone.
The documentary, titled “Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret,” features a 2013 video of Leto performing with his band, 30 Seconds to Mars, at Ex’Pression College in California. During the event, he invited a young girl on stage and quoted a line from the film “Dazed and Confused,” stating, “That’s what I like about high school girls. I keep getting older, they just stay the same age. Alright, alright, alright.”
Beyond the 2013 footage, multiple women have come forward with allegations spanning from 2002 to 2016, when they were teenagers. One accuser, using the pseudonym “Isabel,” alleged that Leto assaulted her in a motel bathroom in 2002 when she was 17.
Another woman, identified as “Taylor,” claimed that in 2005, when she was 14, Leto signed a T-shirt across her breasts at a music festival and told her, “You have a nice rack.” She noted that her mother witnessed the encounter, which she said significantly altered her life.
The documentary notes that 10 women have accused Leto of sexual misconduct. An insider suggested that a reckoning was long anticipated within the music industry, describing the actor as someone who routinely made people uncomfortable and imposed extreme, unnecessary demands on his crew, such as requiring assistants to hold his cape.
For the broader entertainment sector, these renewed allegations highlight the persistent reputational and corporate risks associated with high-profile talent. As public tolerance for historical misconduct diminishes, studios, record labels, and investors are increasingly forced to evaluate the long-term liabilities of associating with controversial figures.
Leto has expressly denied the allegations. In a statement, he called the claims “absolutely and categorically false,” maintaining that he has “never sexually assaulted anyone in my entire life.”
